3 Tips for Writers

These are my three best tips for writers.

Be A Reader

Reading helps you learn how to write better than anything. You should always carry something with you to read, whether it's a book or e-reader. Read the authors you admire, and the kind of writing you'd like to emulate.

Be A Curious Observer

The questions that come from observing and thinking are what you write about. Don't be buried in your phone. Be looking around (and even eavesdropping a bit). Carry a notebook or use a notes app to jot down any idea.

Always Be Writing

80% of my writing is embarrassingly bad, but you have to write a lot to get to the 20%. Write whether you feel inspired or not. You can always come back later and clean up a bad draft, because that's what drafts are for.
