1. The Crossword Puzzle Mystery

Helene, Marta, and Jimmy find out firsthand that newspapers and books can be tricky things. When mysterious robberies start popping up in the region, they realize they've landed right in the middle of a clever scheme and some bold burglars. Using maps and their code-solving skills, the three are determined to get to the bottom of what's going on. New friends can be hard to trust, and sometimes old friends can't be trusted at all. But the mystery club members learn that not only can they trust each other, more importantly they can trust in God, even when the situation is scary.

2. The Runaway Island Mystery

Sometimes the kitchen sink can get you in trouble. Helene, Marta, Jimmy, Charles, and Violet put their best detective skills to use when they discover that the strange people seen around town and at the farm hold a bigger secret than they could have imagined. They are not who they say they are, and are up to no good. With the help of a kitchen sink, a wandering cat, and God-given help to face down a big storm on the lake, the gang discovers that with incredible courage and creative thinking, they might get a new friend and change his life forever.

3. The Stage Ghost Mystery

The mystery gang grows by two more members as they find themselves involved with their most dangerous mystery yet. A ghost seems to be haunting the theater, intent on stopping the play through dangerous sabotage. Lucy and Leroy need help to keep the production going and to make sure no one else gets hurt. Using their wits, and relying on God and each other to help piece together who is behind the sabotage, the mystery gang has a chance to do a favor for the whole community. But will all of them make it to the final act?

Helene "Lene" Byrne

Helene is called Lene (pronounced like "lean-y") by most people, except when they really want to get her attention. She is introverted and doesn't like to see people left out or hurt. She likes art, music, reading, baking, riding horse, exploring, hiking, canoeing, camping, and swimming.

Lucy Byrne

Lucy is Helen's older sister. A bit skeptical about the mystery club at first, she proves valuable. Lucy enjoys drama and theater, but she loves being on the farm and working outside.

Marta Delgado

Marta is Helen's best friend. She is confident and outgoing. She likes things well-organized and likes to be in charge. She enjoys writing, biking, singing, reading, cooking, and hiking.

Leroy Delgado

Leroy is Marta's older brother. He is a hard worker who is very reliable and responsible. He's calm and even-tempered with a sense of humor. When a situation is tense, Leroy is good at calming everyone down.

Violet Quinn-Goldman

Violet Quinn-Goldman is the granddaughter of the Goldmans, from The Crossword Puzzle Mystery. She is sweet and caring, a pretty girl who people respond well to. She is reserved and quiet, coming off as shy or aloof if you don't know her. She likes sewing, crafts, dollhouses, violin, fashion, and decorating. The gang usually refers to Violet and her brother by the last name "Goldman" without using both names.

Charles Quinn-Goldman

Charles is Violet's brother, older by one year. He is hot-headed, easily excitable, quick to get angry or excited. The gang usually refers to Charles and his sister by the last name "Goldman" without using both names.

James "Jimmy" Thompson

Jimmy is an extrovert, and loves meeting and talking to new people. He's gentle and kind-hearted, wanting to belong. Sometimes kids aren't nice to him because he's a little heavier and not very athletic. He likes photography, history, likes to collect things, and is known for always having a new hobby.

Noah Vorachek

Noah had a difficult upbringing with family troubles. He is extremely intelligent with a dry sense of humor. He approaches things logically with self-control. He likes math, gadgets, science, inventing things, learning new things, reading, camping, and forensics.

LAKE AVALON

Lake Avalon is a large lake with several towns and cities situated on its shores. Whisper Bay is in the southeast part of the lake. The map below is a work in progress.

WHISPER BAY & DUNVILLE AREA

Whisper Bay is a small bay, and part of Lake Avalon. The small city of Dunville is located on it, its city park at the edge. On the other side of the bay is the Byrne farm, which becomes known by the gang as Whisper Bay Farm. The map below is a work in progress.

Anderson Dime Store

A "five and dime" store owned by Mr. Anderson. Leroy Delgado works here, particularly behind the soda counter. Ice cream, sodas, malts, sundaes, and more make the soda counter a busy spot. This store is a popular place in town, especially for kids and teens, thanks to the soda counter. Customers can buy gift items, basic home goods, and other similar items. Books and comic books are also available. Mr. Anderson still uses an old manual cash register. (Of note is the Whirla-Whip machine that is in the store. This was a real ice cream system from the 1930s which would mix candy or other things (think peanut butter or chocolate!) into the ice cream. If you like Dairy Queen blizzards today, this machine came first. It's unique in that it takes hard ice cream and turns it into soft serve, while Dairy Queen only uses soft serve ice cream. One of the last functioning machines in existence is located in the small town of Stanley, North Dakota at Dakota Drug.)

Spellman County Recorder

This small newspaper serves the city of Dunville and the surrounding area in the county. The paper comes out on Mondays, unless there is a holiday. Marta's mom works here. Because of a large chalkboard, bulletin board, and a glass-enclosed poster case (managed by the movie theater) attached to the side of the building facing a parking lot and paved gathering area, people frequently stop by. People post information on the side of the building making it an important place to get information and stay in touch with what's going on in the community.

Vorachek's Grocery Store

A grocery store that fits a small town the size of Dunville. It may not be as big and fancy as the supermarkets found in larger cities, but Mr. Vorachek's store has all the basics and more. Plus it has a bakery department.

Skyview United Insurance Company

An insurance company that is headquartered in Bayville, but has offices in other cities like Dunville. Jimmy's dad works at the local branch.

Frost Hills

Frost Hills is a ski resort near Dunville. During the summer, however, it has a theater where the local community gathers to see plays and musicals. It is featured in Book 3, The Stage Ghost Mystery.
