Everyone is welcome to stay at the homestead, but maybe
not everyone will find this destination to their liking.
The Homestead is not a quaint Victorian bed and breakfast.
There is no staff or meals provided. The decor isn't cute, trendy,
luxurious or even well-matched in most cases. Think "retro"
without trying to be, i.e. we use what works. The Homestead is a real
house, fully-furnished with odds and ends of furniture. It is clean, it is
quiet, and you'll be left alone as much as you want.

distractions

culture before it disappears
- Are interested in seeing what makes
"fly over" country tick

| The Homestead might not be the best place for
you if you can identify with the following list:
- Want a theme park or resort vacation
- Looking for high-end lodging complete with full-service staff, luxury
or quaint accommodations, and four-star prepared food.

|
| Consider coming to the Homestead if you can
identify with the following list:
- Are an artist or writer looking for a
quiet place to work with no distractions or noise.
- Are an artist or writer looking for
subject matter from a rural or natural perspective.
- Are interested in leisurely touring of
North Dakota and want to stop by for a few days.
- Love outdoor activities that are
self-guided, such as bird-watching, hunting, and nature walks.
- You want to get out of the city and go
to the country and need someplace cheap to head to. (Except in hunting
season, The Homestead's nightly rates over a month are less than many
city apartment rents. Think about it.)
- You want to have a budget travel experience to a place that isn't
trendy, over-used from being found in Lonely Planet books - something
off the beaten backpacker path.
