Snow Trees.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
I love the soft, foggy days of winter when the snow cuts the trees into definite layers: foreground, middle ground, and background.
This is a fairly basic painting -- mainly an exploration of pattern and opaque wash techniques.

Stationery: Christmas Series 2005
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
Though whimsical in appearance, these cards have a more personal and endearing touch than many store-bought "serious" cards.
Images in this series include a gingerbread man; an angel; a nativity scene; Santa Claus labeled as "big jolly"; a snowman; and a fireplace with Santa's feet peeking through labeled "Ho Ho Hot."
Each card is printed in black ink onto recycled or speckled cardstock (not show in illustration), and then hand-colored with gentle watercolor washes. This makes each card slightly unique and different.
Cardstock selections will vary according to availability, so please let me choose the cardstock. Cardstock used will be neutral and natural in nature.
This set of six cards comes with envelopes, and each card is blank inside, leaving you plenty of room for a quick message to the recipient.
Since these cards have a hand-painted element to them, please allow two to three weeks from the time you order to the time they arrive.
As always, you can increase the quantity in your shopping cart if you want to order more than one set of these great cards. Each order is printed to order, so please allow two weeks time from when you place your order to when it arrives at your door.
Materials: Six laser printed cards on heavy neutral-toned cardstock, hand-colored with watercolors, envelopes included
Size: Folded card is 4.25" x 5.5"
Price: $15
Labels: budget, cards, christmas, religious, santa, snowmen, stationery, winter

Stationery: Snowmen Series
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
Snowmen are the true natives of the north, but too often they miss out on personality. They're more than just lumps of snow! Finally, they get their day in the sun, although not for too long because we don't want them to melt.
This series of six original snowmen designs depcits a snow angel with evergreen bough wings; a group of snowmen with large eyes that, if connected like dot-to-dots, reveals a surprise; a snowwoman with Christmas bulb earrings and a bow; a snowman with a holly sprig and a "hello my name is holly" name tag; a snowman-in-the-box; and a snowman with a wreat about his neck.
The snowman series is a completely original design and idea of mine, and so you can rest assured that recipients of your cards are truly getting something unique.
These cards work well as Christmas cards. This set of six cards comes with envelopes, and are blank inside.

Goldstone Scarf
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
This scarf is done in what's called the stockinette stitch, meaning there is a "front" and "back" to it. It also means it has a tendency to curl towards the back, giving this scarf a cord-like look to it, making it easy to tie around the neck.
The nubby texture is soft against your neck, flecked with ochre and gray and almost-black threads.
Materials: Acrylic and wool
Size: 68" x 3"
Other: Gentle wash, no machine dry.
Price: $15
Labels: budget, knits, scarf, winter

Gold Halo Scarf
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
This scarf looks like a strand of high-grade Christmas tinsel. Rest assured, it's a finely knitted neck scarf.
The yarn in this scarf contains high shine gold threads along with iridescent threads that glisten purple with the right angle of light. It's really quite beautiful to see up close and personal.
This is a short scarf, meant as a decorative accessory to a holiday or other outfit in need of a little something unusual.
Materials: Nylon
Size: 48" x 32"
Other: Hand wash only, lay flat to dry.
Price: $20
Labels: budget, christmas, gold, knits, scarf, winter

Earthtoned Scarf
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
Made of yarn with varigated earthtones, this scarf measures to be wider than 5" when stretched out due to the ribbing stitch used. What this means is that it feels double-thick against your neck, very comfortable and warm.
I used needles that were on the smaller side, so there are many, many stitches in this one scarf, making it even warmer.
It works well as a beautiful yet functional cold weather scarf.
Materials: Acrylic and wool mix yarn
Size: 76" x 5"
Other: Handwash, no machine dry
Price: $25
