Hello My Name Is Journal.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 1 comments link this post
This journal has been purposefully defaced.
I bought a composition book with wonderful interior paper made of sugar cane fibers, and then covered the book inside and out with what you see here. Something about those innocuous "Hello my name is" stickers that has always piqued my interest.
The interior paper is a nice writing surface, and the lines on the paper are printed in muted brown ink so as not to be too heavy and distracting visually.

written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
These mini-journals are a perfect for long letters, topic-specific journaling in one sitting, or perhaps giving as gifts to members of your writing group.
About these mini journals:
Mini-journals have 24-lb. interior weight paper. The covers are made from various decorative papers from my art supply stash, with cover weights varying from cover stock to heavy-weight regular paper.
Each mini-journal is, essentially, one section of a book, with the pages sewn in one station. The sewn edge is covered by a binding of paper glued to the edge. [See binding edge]
The front page of each mini-journal has a hand-doodled image, with each journal's imagery varying. It is a simple drawing, basically giving you a place to write your name or indicated the date and what the journal is about. [See sample of inside drawing -- each journal has a different image and will not necessarily be this one]
Each journal is 5 1/2" high, 6" wide, 1/8" thick.

Journal: Reporter journal.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 0 comments link this post
This blank journal has front and back collaged covers made with copies and transfers from the doodles and jottings out of my actual notebooks from when I was a newspaper reporter.
I would frequently find myself sitting in meetings for hours on end, meetings with little happening but with interesting people to look at and caricature. I also found myself sketching bizarre stream-of-consciousness kinds of images based on some random comment or phrase from a meeting that clicked in my head and came out through the pen in my hand.
The covers are heavy-weight art paper with collaged imagery and decorative papers. Using watercolor, various papers, acrylic mediums, and ink, I transformed the basic pen and ink doodles into a colorful and complete image.
The binding is a basic plastic coil binder.
Inside, the journal is filled with a variety of papers that I have on hand in my art supplies. From lined to blank to sketch to colored to graph to tracing paper, you'll find each page to be a new experience, whether you intend to use the journal as a place to write, sketch, or glue your own ephemera inside. There are also two medium-size manila envelopes worked into the binding at the front and back, perfect for storing loose papers or notes.
The journal is 10" tall, 7.25" wide, and .25" thick. Variations in the cover, paper, etc. are part of its hand-made nature and are intentional. The cover is not smooth, but is an actual collage with varying thickness and texture.
Price: $25
Labels: collage, for writers, gift, journals, mixed media, stationery, watercolor, whimsical
