Flowers in the Cream Can.

written by Julie R. Neidlinger      0 comments      link this post

This is one of my favorite watercolor paintings. The same subject can be seen here, but as an ink drawing instead.

The visual texture seen in the black cream can was from bits of grass that I brushed across the still-wet paint. I painted this sitting on the grass in the front yard.

Materials: Watercolor on heavy paper
Size: approx. 22" X 40"
Other: Shipped without frame or mat; let me chose print number from series
Price: $65

These mini-journals are a perfect for long letters, topic-specific journaling in one sitting, or perhaps giving as gifts to members of your writing group.

About these mini journals:

Each mini-journal is, essentially, one section of a book, with the pages sewn in one station. The sewn edge is covered by a binding of paper glued to the edge. [See binding edge]

The front page of each mini-journal has a hand-doodled image, with each journal's imagery varying. It is a simple drawing, basically giving you a place to write your name or indicated the date and what the journal is about. [See sample of inside drawing -- each journal has a different image and will not necessarily be this one]

Porcelain piggy bank.

written by Julie R. Neidlinger      0 comments      link this post

This porcelain piggy bank was inked free-hand with no pattern, then hand-painted with oil paints.

A plastic stopper on the underside allows you to remove your money without destroying a perfectly good pig.

Design work is original and unique, hand signed on the bottom.

This pig is small, about 4" X 3" X 3", and the only one of its kind! (He, uh, also comes with a few quarters inside. Quarters do not come out the bottom hole.)

See details: detail 1, detail 2, detail3.

Price: $95

Flower Garden

written by Julie R. Neidlinger      0 comments      link this post

My mother enjoys flowers and her abundant flower gardens are a great source for my art. However, I do find myself bored with photo-realistic depictions of flowers. I much prefer to have a little fun with the color and look of the flowers.

Can you find the bee?

Oddly enough, we have a strange collection of creamery related items in our flower beds, from a couple of cream cans that hold flower pots to this creamer.

Cream and flowers. If there can be peaches and cream, why not?

Hummingbird

written by Julie R. Neidlinger      0 comments      link this post

Hummingbirds seemed the perfect subject matter for making sure that I didn't get to caught up in detail, their wings whizzing along so quickly that the birds are like floating blurs.

The red flowers might as well be blurs, too.

Blue Bottle Flower 1

written by Julie R. Neidlinger      0 comments      link this post

I had purchased a bottle of water imported from England. The glass bottle was a brilliant blue, unlike bottles you see now. It reminded me of the colored glass bottles of many years ago. You'll often see this blue bottle cropping up in many of my paintings and photographs. It's a favorite subject of mine.

Materials: Acrylic on paper
Size: 14" X 30"
Other: Shipped without frame or mat
Price: $60

It's strange, the way I latch onto things, how the most ordinary thing becomes a central figure in my work.
