At last, a litmus test.

Ingrid, of Slice of Laodicea fame (see posts on Lone Prairie Blog), has come up with questions that real Christians should be able to answer.
Pastor Tony had a contest for who could memorize the books of the Bible in order. I did it. I got a coupon for the Dairy Queen. Does that count for anything? That the Westminster Confession of Faith, that beer-drinking Jew-hating Luther himself, had so much to do with our salvation in Christ. Unreal. The comments, of course, are the "amen" choir singing in to the tune of "How Holy We Art."
I attempted to leave a comment there, but, as we all know, comments get seriously moderated. Here is my comment:
Nonsense.
Where does this concept of testing, quizzing, meeting some kind of “grade” ever come into play? The thief on the cross? The woman at the well? Did Jesus ask that the they leave their fishing nets and careers, answer ten questions correctly, and then follow him?
If you want to talk about profane, this post is it.
Ingrid posted her quiz as a rebuttal to a pop quiz (which I agree is vacuous). becoming just as ridiculous as the pop quiz itself. You know what? I can't answer half of those questions, and the ones I could I certainly didn't come close to touching the starched and high-lace-collared answers she came up with -- I'm Pentecostal, for one thing. A serious lack of Holy Spirit questions in her quiz.
I am certainly not going to weep and wail over not passing her quiz. I may not be able to answer "What duty does God require of man?" but I know what it's like to hold a sick Nicaraguan baby and try to console the mother while we figure out what we can do to help. I should think that counts for something.
As always on this blog, I welcome your thoughts.
