Image Transfer Techniques: Ink Jet method II.

A method for water based ink jet image transfers.

Materials:

a brightly colored ink jet printed image on lightweight paper (24 lbs. or less) - it will not work if you have printed your image onto specially coated inkjet paper; plain paper must be used
rubbing alcohol
clean cloth or cotton ball

Steps:

Lightly dampen the paper you will be transferring the image onto with the rubbing alcohol using a clean cloth or cotton ball.
Quickly arrange your printed image on top of this dampened area, image (ink) side down. Do only one image at a time.
Wet a clean cloth or cotton ball with rubbing alcohol, and begin to rub the back of image until you see evidence of ink coming through the backside.
Let your image dry.

The Lone Prairie School is open for anyone who has an interest in art and writing, or would like to share further techniques and tips with others as the topics dictate.

Participation is free, though some classes might offer, for a slight fee, additional material or personal instruction. Some posts will simply give you ideas and methods to try, and others will have actual assignments to spur you on. Feel free to share your completed assignment with the rest of us!

The way it works is simple: Leave your comments, questions, thoughts, and suggestions in the "comments" section of each post. If you have images or files of your artwork, photography, or writing, simply leave a link in the comments section to where you have it stored online. Lone Prairie does not offer image or document storage space, but there are plenty of free sites that do.

I will respond to the comments section if needed, giving direction and answering questions.
