In troubled times.

provided for you
by my life of ease and middle-class comfort
by Julie R. Neidlinger
I say
To myself
as I down
another bottle
of Perrier.
My grief and
depression
and personal failures
slide on down
with the tickling
fizzy fun
of the over-priced water
in the green bottle.
Tomorrow
I'll be abusing
Airborne
(which tastes like
the poor man's pop
except it's kind of expensive)
and getting all the healthier
for it.
