Capitol Shakespeare.

I'm enjoying my home-away-from-home (i.e. Bismarck). Oh, the benefits! For example, Capitol Shakespeare.

Even if it's really bad acting...well hey. Bad Shakespeare is still Shakespeare. And I don't think it will be bad. I'm going to be positive.

So, amazingly, I will be here the weekends of the free performance. Yes, in this busy July month of me driving gazillions of miles around the state to play violin at various weddings, the one weekend I will be staying in town is the weekend of Capitol Shakespeare's performance of Twelfth Night.

I can't wait.

If you're in Bismarck, you ought to check it out: July 17-20, 6:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. show on Sunday. Get there early, drop a blanket on the ground, and settle in for cross-dressing star-crossed love as only Bill could write.

I just need to find an old blanket...I don't really have one here. Hmmm.

I've always found "Shakespeare in the Park" productions to be great fun and very entertaining. I have never seen one poorly acted either. "Twelveth Night" must be a favorite play to perform in these settings since I have seen it in such places twice.

Also, since you really didn't blog about this but tweeted instead, and since there is no other way for me to reply to them, let me add here (if you don't mind the off-topic subject this once) let me add that it sounds like you should stay away from frozen treats and stick to your mom's muffins for the time being. My, was that one long run-on sentence or what? Btw, those muffins did sund delicious. Do you think your mom could send a couple out my way?

Will, you broke one of my EULA rules...the one about NOT LEAVING PERSONAL MESSAGES/OFF-TOPIC MESSAGES.

!!!!!

If there was no way to reply, surely it is God's intention that you do not reply.

Surely.

(No, mom won't send out muffins. Pretty sure.)

Well, I did ask for your indulgence this one time : )

Besides, I did leave a relevant comment as well. Doesn't that earn me a tiny bit of slack?

Further, when it comes to God's intentions, it is my belief that it was the Supreme Being himself who directed me to leave the wayward comment in this post in the first place.

Oh, and did I say that I really like Shakespeare in the Park type productions? I have seen them in Lexington and Louisville, KY and they were all first-rate! Wonderful plays, great acting and stunning production values. I do believe you are in for a real treat . . . sorta of like those muffins you tweeted about.

Btw, are you absolutely sure I can't snag a couple?

But back to Shakespeare, so as to stay on topic. My favorite play of his has to be King Lear, and for some reason this one is rarely performed in those outdoorsy and free productions. That's a real shame, if you ask me. Instead they seem to focus on Bill's more light-hearted plays.

But unlike the free plays by the great one in the park, there could be some good money to be had in exchange for a muffin or two. They just seem to be calling out to me. They remind me of something Bill himself said in The Twelfth Night, which I, of course, paraphrase below:

"If apple cinnamon walnut muffins be the food of South Beech diets, eat on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die."

Now if that bit of poetry isn't worth a muffin, I don't know what is.

oh, please.

Well, have I broken the rules before? Is this off-topic? I'm confused. YOU GO, WILL!!!

You can always get a nice old blanket at a thrift store. Or better yet...buy a brand new one, leave the tags on, and return it when you are finished with it. Wait! I have it. Find someone there who has room on his blanket. Yeah, baby!

I will be seeing Hello, Dolly in DL so I won't have a blanket available in your location.

Anna,

Thanks for the encouragement. I knew there was a reason I liked you and your comments before! Btw, what is your opinion on Shakespeare in the Park Productions (lest we stray too far off topic)?
