Will says he's bored.

My friend Will* emailed me and said he was bored.

"I'm bored."

Well, Will, what am I to do about that?

I tell you what I'll do. I'll tell you a story.

When we were kids, my sister Janet and I were pretty good about playing outside and not needing to worry about being bored. We had our ponies and horses and we built forts and shot each other with popcorn guns. We'd ride for miles and do all kinds of stuff.

But, occasionally, we'd feel bored.

I remember wandering into the house and finding dad in the dining room with a cup of coffee, reading the Farm and Ranch Guide.

"Dad, we're bored," we said.

He didn't look up from the paper, and didn't say anything at first, but only picked up his coffee for another sip.

We stood there.

"Dad, we're bored!"

Another sip. And then, still not looking up, he said, "You kids have to learn how to entertain yourselves."

Will, you're just going to have to find something to do. I can't help you. I can, however, suggest some TV in a few hours. It is, after all, Sci Fi Saturday Night!!!!**

*I painted Will's blog header. It's one of the few paintings I liked as soon as I finished it. Just a little FYI.

**Although tonight's movie is The Grudge and that severely creeped me out and I don't actually plan on watching it again. Sunday's movie, The Hive, looks craptastic enough. I'll watch that one. Killer alien insects! Yeauh!

AMC Letters from Imojima tonite

Good Lord, Woman:

You will blog anything and everything, won't you? I already knew that, but figured I was safe since you have been a regular blogging machine after returning from your trip. Besides, I think my excat words were "I'm bored, and yes, I know that's not your problem."

I think my boredom was the result of not being able to sleep and not being awake enough to do anything else. Hopefully that problem has been solved with the purchase of a new mattress today.

I am looking forward to "The Hive" tomorrow night. Ants have always been my favorite insect. So what do you think, will the opening scene be of a solitary man happening upon these killer ants and meeting his fate, or will there be two individuals who are initially gnawed to death by "The Hive."

But even now, as I type this, a question comes to mind. I have never heard of a group of ants called a "hive." Bees yes, ants no. There are ant colonies and ant hills, but no ant hives that I have heard of. I guess "The Hill" or "The Ants" doesn't have the same terror factor.

I love the description on SciFi.com: "An Island is seiged by killer ants controlled by an alien intelligence." And then comes the kicker: "Starring Tom Wopat." What fun will be had by all viewers of this instant classic tomorrow night!

Concerning the first paragraph of my lengthy reply, I should have written "exact words" and not "excat words." I have no desire to have the feline-loving folks out there come after me (and that includes the blogging fiend, er, I mean friend : ) who runs this particular section of cyberspace.

Here's how I see the opening scene:

Hot, young couple out on the beach late at night, misbehavin' (it is on an island, after all). Bam. Eaten up by ants.

Or, some stumble-down drunk on the..beach...Bam. Eaten up by ants.

There will be, of course, a hot, main chick who will, at some point, end up in just a white, tight tank top.

It's in the Sci Fi script template requirements.

And, no.

There's just about nothing I won't blog.

I can think of six specific topics I wouldn't blog.

Your boredom is not one of them.

Lo siento mucho.

Julie,

For the sake of those who must live with him, please do not suggest to Will that he should watch more TV.

Ooops.

Good point, Jim.

I was so relieved to read the fine print that you were not going to watch the Grudge again. It sure threw this family off to not have our weekly dose of sci-fi this week. I have to say that even the comment section was very entertaining.
