I once was a rabid fan.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 5 comments link this postMy friend Shannon and I are going to go to the Toby Mac/Jeremy Camp concert at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks on March 2. I'm going to get our tickets tonight.
I'm not completely up on Toby Mac's music, but I'm not worried. I knew his music from back in the day.
(Huh-huh-heaven-huh huh-huh-huh-heaven - pause - huh heaven bound!)
"You'll like him. He's very high energy," Shannon said in an email just now.
I replied back. "I used to be a rabid DC Talk fan. I never missed a concert if they were in ND, MN, or SD. I got a little carried away at one.... I should blog the experience. I couldn't walk for a week. Good times! Love high energy concerts!!!"
She replied almost immediately. "You have me very curious."
I bet I do.
(Naomi could take it from here; she was my fellow rabid fan. We were obsessed. I got to meet them all backstage once because I was a MEMBER OF THE SHORT-LIVED VIBE TRIBE!!! Ha! Fear me! I have autographs! Posters! Every tape and CD! Even the ridiculous rap song with Carmen! We had a whole stash of inside jokes based from one Sioux Falls concert weekend involving the Ramkota Inn. I used to have a huge crush on Kevin Max -- K-Max back then -- until I saw a Dove Awards show in which he wore white satin pants, stood up from his seat to get an award and picked out a wedgie right on camera, then made some dumb peace gesture at the podium while referencing the Beatles saying he was the Walrus. Killed the ol' crush right there. I mean, really. White satin pants. Come on.)

Not exactly a knight in white satin, huh?

Gotta love the Moody Blues.

Wow.
I don't even know where to start.
And that's probably a good thing.
(I will say, however, that my "Decent Christian Talk" obsession was WAY more acceptable than my NKOTB obsession.)

Yeah, your NKOTB obsession was never acceptable.
You had it bad.
You even had buttons and stickers on your jacket. Hideous.

If DC Talk would have had buttons and stickers, I would have had them, too.
And you would have, too.
