A Christmas letter.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 2 comments link this postThough I sent out cards this year, I decided to do a quick digital letter. I emailed it out to my friends and family, but for those of you wanting a gander at it, you can do so by clicking here: Julie's Fantabulous 2007 Christmas Letter (PDF).

Julie --
Having received my share of Christmas letters over the years, I can say without a doubt that yours is just right.
Merry Christmas!

This is a comforting letter. Unlike most of the letters I see over Christmas.
Surely my cousin and his wife don't expect me to be excited as they are at having spent so much time in Italy -- with every monument, street, and restaurant described in detail? Important to them, yes, but to me?
Nor do I care whose child made the football team. Or where he's going to college. Or how many kids he has.
How did Christmas become the holiday for such things, as opposed to, say, New Years? That would make more sense. These lengthy form letters of vanity don't make me think of Christmas or Christ. They don't put me in the giving vein.
Here's my card: My nephew's a brat. I have a hard time putting up with him and I'm glad he's gone.
On top of that, I rented the movie Stardust. Robert Deniro plays a transvestite pirate captain.
Now that's not right.
