A new machine at work.

Today I'm going to be working again at my "real job."

We have a new machine at work that I've been put in charge of it in a sense. New laptop to run it, new software to tweak, new drivers, new machine...all VERY exciting.

It's a laser engraver/cutter and though I'm still figuring it out, I can already see ways that I'm going to use it for my own art. It can engrave/cut wood, glass, plastic, metal, cloth, paper, ceramic tile, enameled metal -- it's amazing. Yesterday I engraved my name in the side of some wood pencils. It can make rubber stamps. It can engrave both vector and raster (photographs, for example) images using dot/halftone techniques and more.

I won't start on the woeful instruction manual the company has come up with, rife with typos and borderline "Chinese English", nor the misspelled word "before" (beofre) on the LED control panel, but the machine itself does fabulous work.

Perhaps I'll make some Lone Prairie pencils. Who wants one, If I do?

oooo....I do!

Can I also get a lone prairie ruler and coaster set?

Me, too. That is, in English, I would like one, also. I also think you should wrap your header image around a coffee cup. That would be very cool. I would buy one.

I am afraid to ask for something else from my favorite blooger, but if I get one, I will keep it next to my can of corn in perpetuity.

I would love a pencil! I would also like to be the one to push the big red stop button sometime, if your version of the machine indeed has one.

If you make them, we will come ... or, I'll take one (or two, or three).

I'll take a pencil Julie. Maybe 2 or 3. I need some ammunition to throw at my co-worker in the next cubicle who keeps playing "Hair Metal Hits of the '80's Volume 68" CD in a loop.

Thanks.

Will, why did you put your can of corn in Perpetuity?

Jim,

Where else should I put my can of corn (don't go there), in a cupboard?

Mug-wanter ("David"), go here.
