No skirt goes unpunished.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 3 comments link this postTonight was the Valentine's banquet at our church, the one I've been practicing for most dreadfully on the violin. I was to serenade the people whilst they ate their food.
I feel so badly for the people at the table right next to where I stood. Even the mute I used on the violin to help hold down the screeching couldn't have spared them much. How they kept their food down, I do not know. The banquet itself -- decorations and all -- were lovely.
I, however, wore black: a black skirt, shirt and shoes. I figured that was appropriate.
And the reason I don't wear skirts much?
- "Julie, you're wearing a skirt!"
- "Julie, look, you're in a skirt!"
- "Hey, a skirt. Hey, Julie. Julie in a skirt!"
- "What's this? A skirt?!!"
- "Let's make a big, embarassing deal about Julie in her dorky skirt!"
- "We'd better get a picture of Julie in her skirt!"
Have a Happy Valentine's Day. Enjoy a day of celebrating a Catholic saint who was decapitated.

*Except for the evening church services in Nicaragua where I have to wear...you guessed it: a skirt.

I hear you on "skirts." Try BEING a missionary in Kenya. Yaohw!!!! My 17 year old daughter wore a skirt yesterday and I knew that was my clue to do the laundry by hand (we're nearly out of water.)

My confession? I hate skirts, too. That's my Africa "sacrifice" for Jesus --- every time I put one on.

I hate skirts, too. Try being a missionary in Africa. That's real sacrifice for Jesus because you have to wear skirts - A LOT!!!
But I will only go so far. When I saw my daughter wearing one yesterday - I knew it was time to wash her clothes by hand:
