Books: When the undead rise.

I've gotten into the fairly pleasant habit of having Naomi read excerpts from books to me while we go places. Since I'm driving, it makes it hard to read. A recent book featured during just such an occasion brought home an urgent message that I needed to hear: we need to prepared in case zombies attack.
Yes, I'd recommend The Zombie Survival Guide for your home library, preferably filed in the section next to your Boy Scout manual, the Cabela's catalogue, and the book that tells you which wines go best with fish.
I found the diagrams helpful, including the best way to kill zombies that lurk underwater in local ponds and lakes. The author, Max Brooks, outlines the best choices for vehicular escape, food safety, survival, personal armor, shelter, and kill methods. Brooks shares plenty of little-known facts that could be the key between life and undeath. For example, did you know that people, despite being safe in a highly secured and well-stocked domicile, have been known to go crazy because of the constant moaning of the zombies just outside? Brooks doesn't hold out on the reader, but provides the solution to all dilemmas, this one included: wear earplugs.
He also provides an historical documentation of zombie incidents that have occurred through the ages in a handy, chronological reference section at the end. I found the detailed description of a recent outbreak in Los Angeles, and the subsequent government cover-up, spellbinding.
This book is meant for two kinds of people: those that live near cemeteries and those that don't. It is also meant for one kind of person: the living. It is not meant for another kind of person: the undead.
Buy this book before it is too late.
