Granted, it lacks the dramatic punch.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 12 comments link this postI don't know why anyone comes to this blog. I long ago gave up political or current-event posts, seeing that blog debate is akin to hitting each other with their favorite "yeah but" bricks. I mean, the big blogs are the poli-blogs but I can't bear my voice linking to the same articles and saying the same things.
I can't even figure out what category this blog is. One of those North Dakota - Pentecostal - Religious - Rant - Crazy - Art - Kitty - Daily Grind - WTF - Movies - Books - Nonsense - Melodramatic - Single - Depressive - Yada yada yada - Bi Polar - Blogs. I lack the proper spirit - which is a categorizable blog? - and here's why.
When I read this post by Graeme*, (who is sincere in his posts and who does have a sense of humor after all) and then read the comments, I could think of a number of argumentative tactics I could launch into, casting my brick in the fray and maybe into someone's head. However, the thought of another round of that was a dreary one indeed. My main inclination was to leave the following comment:
The technical term for batshit is guano. Granted, it lacks the dramatic punch.Who in the world leaves that for a comment?
I want to comment on people's blogs to let them know I'm reading; I know that it's hard to talk to an empty room. On the other hand, I don't want to be the crazy nut that leaves a comment on every post, thinking it's required, leaving such gems as "yeah" and "that's funny" and "lol" and "yeah again." In that case, please do hit me with a brick. There should be a standard comment people can leave when they don't have a thing to add but want to pat the writer on the back. Here, I'll pick the word with the help of the Random Word Generator: carrots.
Just leave the word "carrots" and, like a carrot on the stick in front of me, I'll keep blogging because I know someone out there is holding the stick.
I didn't leave the comment on Graeme's blog post. In fact, I find myself almost leaving comments all over the blogosphere and rarely following through. Truly, I lack the spirit it takes to debate or to form coherence instead of digital mumbling. As it turns out, I choose to forgo the obvious for the non sequitur.
Hence, my aging blog with still-light hit count.
I once had a guy leave a comment, highly irate, that my blog was the "sixth dark corner of the internet." I've always wondered where the other five were. And I wondered what kind of freak leaves a comment like that.
I mean, really.
*Disclaimer: I know Graeme's mother. She is crazy-fun and we went to Fargo and on the way home almost hit a deer and my Olive Garden take-home ended up in my lap but the Krispy Kremes were safe. Awesome.

Yes, perhaps light, but think of the high quality of the readers. ;-)
I hope you never stop. But we all will, won't we?

I disagree with the "dark corner" guy. Like North Dakota sunshine, your posts put a little brightness into my days. Thank you.

I'm kind of looking forward to a spate of one-word nonsense comments.
Hours.
