Have your frosting and eat it to.
written by Julie R. Neidlinger 2 comments link this postWe had a meal in the church basement yesterday, following the service. It was a kind of Pastor appreciation event in which there was cake.
Regular readers know my feelings on cake.
Oh, I ate some regular food but really, I just wanted cake. Cake.
Mark came around with pieces of cake and asked if anyone wanted one. The conversation I was involved in paused for a moment as I looked at the pieces he held on two plates.
"Hmm. I don't suppose I could have an edge piece so I could have more frosting?" I asked him.
"Oh, don't worry. We've got your piece coming up next."
I should have taken note of the 'we' and the implied threat, but thought nothing except this was some great service with the cake being brought out instead of me having to go get it.
Sure enough, he came back with a plate that was three percent cake and 97 percent frosting; this is about the correct ratio. Between him and Ross, they'd scraped every shard and blob of frosting that was left on the cake plate and piled it up on my cake. He handed it to me with a laugh. I guess they all know my idiosyncrasies.
Though I'll have to avoid sugar for a month just to help my body get past that huge overload, I have to say, I love cake. And frosting even better. You can't beat the people at church for a good laugh and pile of frosting.

My five-year-old daughter likes her cake the same way -- maximum frosting.

It's really okay to go to the store and buy one of those ready made cans of frosting and NOT buy a cake mix and eat the frosting out of the can with a spoon. They have a nice resealable lid, so if it takes you a couple of sittings, it can be resealed between. And as an artist, you will appreciate that the can is actually a nice plastic container that can, with its resealable lid, contain art supplies or serve as a portable water container. If that all helps justify the frosting binge, so be it!
