Preserving the photos and other memorabilia.

Five people have been meeting regularly with each other, working on a grant proposal through the North Dakota State Historical Society. We hope to use the grant to pay for methods of display and preservation of the photos and other memorabilia that are still hanging in the Hampden Senior Citizens Center.

We'll keep you updated on our progress!

DVDs, inserts, and the future of the web site

Don't worry.

I've been getting a lot of phone calls and yes: you can still order the various items that were available for sale. Just email me if you want a history DVD, or a Post-Centennial DVD. I will also be putting together a DVD with just the parade, a DVD with just the play, and a DVD with just the program from the reunion. The Post-Centennial DVD will have bits from all of these events, but not every event in its entirety because of time constraints.

You can also order the Post-Centennial Hampden News insert for the back of your history book. It will look much the same as what's there, but filled with "news" stories on the actual centennial, as well as photos. And don't forget...those great postcards!

And yes, we do still have a few books left, but not many. We're even getting orders from Norway, and the libraries at the State Universities!

Dawn Hamre still has a number of those wonderful Hampden throws left. Contact her if you'd like one. The price is $60, which includes shipping and handling.

The best thing to do? Keep visiting the site. I'm a bit swamped right now, trying to get all these orders made and sent out, but I will be revamping the site in the near future. You'll still have the history and a number of other fun things to keep in touch with the community of Hampden. Plus, you'll be able to order a number of these Centennial and Hampden related products online.

If you have placed an order...I haven't forgotten. I'm still in the process of making all of the items first. But you will get what you ordered, promise!

book mistake

There is a history book out there with a publisher mistake in which the back pages were glued to the inside back cover. This book does not have any of the special inserts, and was not meant to be sold or distributed. It inadvertantly was. If you are the unlucky party who has this book, please let me know and we will exchange your book for a good copy.

calling all photographers

Incidently, I am very interested in:

1. Any photos (digital or extra prints) that those who attended the Reunion and Centennial could share.
2. Any and all filmed footage of the events.
3. Stories, comments, remembrances of the event. (ex. The illustrious Neidlinger Farm float running out of gas in the middle of the parade...)

I tried to film and photograph as much as I could, but I know I didn't even come close to documenting everything as well as it could've been. I certainly need all of your help.

Why?

My goal is to make this web site into a great place to relive some good memories and be an online archive for the community. Contact me at julie@loneprairie.net if you can help in this manner. I would appreciate it so much, as would all of the visitors to the site.

whew!

Well, the Centennial is over, but the memories of a great weekend will stay with everyone for a long time to come. Be sure to post an entry on the guestbook about your weekend, and any fun stories you have to tell.

The Hampden site will be staying online indefinitely, although the look and scope of it will change now that the actual celebration is over. There will be a place to order many of the items that were available to order during the Centennial, such as the DVD or cemetery map, so don't worry if you didn't place an order and now want to. There will possibly be a chance to order a few items that weren't available during the Cetennial, such as the complete parade on its own DVD, and the complete program on its own DVD. Stay tuned!

We are still taking orders for History Books. We have a limited number left at the publisher, and will take orders for a short while before placing the final order to be sent from the publisher. If you would like a book, please email me at julie@loneprairie.net, or call me at 701-868-3888 within the next week. We are already up to 30 orders within a few days!

Keep visiting this site for news and your connection to Hampden! The look will change, but all for the better!

T-shirts

Although we do not have T-shirts for sale online, you will be able to purchase shirts and items at the event. Here is the design. You should have a couple of color options in the inks as well as the color of T-shirt you want to use.

class photos

Registration for the All-School Reunion starts on Friday at 9 a.m. and continues through the day. However, class photos will begin around 1 p.m., so you will want to arrive and register before then in order to get your packet of materials which includes the photo schedule. We'd hate to have anyone miss out on being in their photo! Don't be late!

Your packet will also include other items, such as the directory.

Be sure to be in contact with your classmates, or check out the online guestbook for postings by your classmates. Many are wanting to do something about parade entries and other get-togethers.

getting ready

The Mall has a brand new look. There's new benches and flowers in front of the Post Office. The Hampden blankets are completed. And the last history book has just rolled off the printing press.

You know what this means?

The Centennial Celebration is right around the corner!

Hope to see you all there!

fun stuff to buy

At the Centennial, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a disk that will contain the photos found in the book as well as some that aren't. This gives you the chance to print out those images that you would like to have for your own enjoyment in whatever size or format you desire.

Barring a crash or disaster with my (Julie Neidlinger) computer between now and the Centennial, you will also be able to purchase a DVD that will contain footage gathered of Hampden. This will include past celebrations, school events, and whatever people are able to get to use.

If you have footage, no matter how brief or of what event or scene, please contact us. DO NOT PHYSICALLY CUT THE FILM. I'll handle all the editing digitally and without damage to your film. VHS tapes (and DVDs) are also accepted, as long as they are copyright free.

Don't forget to check out the jacket raffle, the Hampden blanket and the beautiful postcards, all available in the shopping section.

history books

Not to beat a dead horse...but if you haven't ordered a history book, you need to do so now. Particularly if you are from a surrounding community and are wanting to buy one after seeing them when they come out. There is an extremely limited amount that will be available - this is no marketing ploy. Only 300 copies of the books will be printed, and there are probably not more than 30 or 40 left as of this date that haven't been spoken for.

Don't wait too long - you might miss out!
