Julie R. Neidlinger: Hypocrite. Heretic. And any other words you might come up with.

Background
What's this about? If no one else is going to take me seriously, then
I'll do it for them! I take myself seriously, and make my
own warning page.
Please read the links you'll find to the left, under the
"Background" section. That'll suck out about two hours of your life.
I'll still be here when you get back.
Benefits
Let me do your work for you. Picking cherries is tough work. All that material to sift through to find the proof you need to support your case. Let me do that for you! Use the handy links in the columns to the right and left to help you find the material you need to build your case!
Where to Look
The Lone Prairie site is broad, like the prairie. But if you're
insistent upon doing some looking yourself, the two blogs you'll most likely
find the best ammunition on is the main Lone
Prairie Blog (particularly this
category), and the Lone
Prairie Studies Blog.
Some handy summations which will change (and likely reverse) as I change:
- I like Ray Comfort. I like Billy Graham. I like how both have heard different callings from God and have obeyed in the different methods they use. I don't think it has to be either/or.
- I'm not against street preaching, with some caveats. I'm not against relational evangelism-by-living, either, with some caveats. I don't think it has to be either/or.
- I have attended a couple of Worldview Weekend Conferences and enjoyed them, as well as the materials available (of which I own much and read/view periodically).
- I've read Rob Bell, Dallas Willard, Tony Campolo, Ray Comfort, Richard Foster, Bob DeWaay, Ray Yungen, C.S. Lewis, Kierkegaard, Francis Schaeffer, Randy Alcorn, John Piper, John Lee Grady, Scot McKnight, David Fitch, Philip Yancy...etc. I don't regret reading them a bit, and I still recommend any variation of these to people.
- I don't care for Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life stuff. At all.
- I hate the version of the Bible known as "The Message" because I think it's clunky and awkward and bad wording. But I don't think it's evil.
- I believe women can have leadership roles in the church, including pastoral positions.
- I am a Pentecostal (Assembly of God) and speak in tongues.
- Meeting physical and social needs of people is important, and the church has neglected this in recent times.
- I like singing hymns, but I also like choruses. Battles over the style of music are stupid and "majoring in the minors ". The same goes for things like wearing pants, hair length, etc.
- I am not comfortable with some of the "urban" forms of entertainment that churches take part in, but I understand that's likely a cultural thing, it being very different from how I was raised.
- I don't really dig megachurches and get a little ticked with the consumer approach to Christianity.
- I think arts have been seriously neglected in Evangelical Christianity, and it shows in our sub-culture's stunted artistic growth and understanding of the arts.
- I have a snappish temperament, and can be a little sharp with the words. Despite this, even if later, after I've cooled down and want to delete a post -- I don't. I don't delete. It's all there. It's not proof to me, not some surprise or "gotcha"; I already know my failings, my strengths, my weakness, and my transparency.
Why
Everyone deserves to be obsessed about. Everyone deserves to be
the focal point of someone's sheer anger and rage and wrath and energy and
entire theological existence. That's why. We all deserve it.
Actually, we don't.
We don't deserve this....this...this fine-tooth combing to prove we're merely
human, that we change our minds or seem to contradict ourselves. Who among us is
perfect? Who has the stones ready to throw first?
Etcetera
A wee bit of fine print. I welcome sermons and online articles which
you think would be useful to be linked on this page.
If an Old Truth blog page I've linked to is gone or does not contain what I says it contained, please contact me. I may have a screen shot to verify
my own truthiness. Whatever else anyone might be able to rightly say about me, I don't lie or cover
up or hide online. I may change my mind, my opinion, or reconsider, but I don't
cover it up or pretend that I've not changed my mind, my opinion, that I've
reconsidered or that I've said something stupid I wish I could delete. It's all
here, in all its conflicting glory.
