When writing is a travesty.

Have you ever heard of the author Travis Tea?

Tea has written the worst book ever published. No, I'm not being mean. That's really the case.

Tea's book, Atlanta Nights, is truly a monstrosity.

The real story behind Travis Tea's travesty is that of writers trying to prove a point about some publishers that claim to be selective but really take anyone's money to publish anything. Each chapter is written by a different author trying to write as only bad writing can be written. You can read the complete backstory here. The press release can be found here.

The project proved its point regarding Publish America's willingness to publish anything, but it can also be a sadly hilarious study tool on bad writing. If your writing sounds like this...you may want to do a few years of writing calisthenics. Or send your manuscript to Publish America or similar vanity presses ASAP.

Basically, the book serves as a warning to writers about what sometimes happens in the publishing industry regarding vanity presses, scams, unscrupulous publishers and anything else a writer might need a heads-up on. The book also is worth few laughs, particularly for writers who appreciate the artful meanderings and bad copy found in Tea's masterpiece.

Want to read Atlanta Nights for yourself? Buy a copy online from Lulu, get it from Amazon, read the eBook, or download the book as a PDF file. Me? I bought the book. I like to hold a real book in my hands and for this reason ebooks will never take off for me.

Either way, don't miss out on how to write a really awful, bad, no-good book.
