I am addicted to the tea from Steep Me, a specialty tea shop here in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Visiting the shop is a fun experience in its own right; it’s clean and peaceful and airy and full of great pottery and all things related to tea.
My favorite teas — that is, the teas that make up my now three-cups-a-day routine — are:
- White Peach: Pai Mu Tan white peony from China, with peach flavor.
- Blue Clouds Over Dakota: Sencha green tea, blueberry and vanilla flavor, lavender flowers.
- Dakota Sunrise: Sencha green tea, raspberry and lemon flavor, rose petals.
I just picked up a canister of “Starry Night”, an herbal tea made especially for Glance Spa and Salon here in Bismarck. It has chamomile, lemon myrtle, spearmint, and lavender flowers. I’ve not tried it, but the smell of it is heavenly.
I prefer loose teas, and I get the TeaSac natural tea bags to use for steeping. They also offer a variety of other tea brands (loose and in bags) such as The Republic of Tea, as well as other tea-related food and products.
You definitely want to try their tea, if you’re a serious tea-lover. I’ve gotten a few blog readers addicted, so you’re in good company if you should do the same. Give them a call. Tell them Julie sent ya’.

The lady at Steep Me was very friendly the other day when I mail-ordered some Blue Clouds Over Dakota (a delicious tea). I also asked for a listing of their teas. The White Peach also sounds intriguing.
Loose tea is the way to go. Lately I just use a small tea ball filled partway with a favorite tea, and I plop the whole thing into travel (note spill proof) mug filled with boiling water.
I’ve also taken to using a french press styled travel mug (picked up at the local REI); tea is placed in the mug followed by hot water; french press top is put on; and then after a little steep time, I push the press downward. Easy.
Now with you introducing me to Steep Me, I can see an addiction developing…
This is a great place. The White Peach is my favorite but I don’t know if I’ve reached the addict level yet.
