Vizzini has spoken.

by Julie R. Neidlinger on December 2, 2009

After President Obama kicked Charlie Brown off the air last night, in hopes of talking up additional troops to Afghanistan, we topped off our Christmas decorating by watching “Elf.” At no point was the President’s speech ever on. Why?

Because Vizzini, the clever Sicilian from “The Princess Bride“, has already said what we need to know about that matter.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is “Never get involved in a land war in Asia,”

I suppose I could have said something like “history repeats itself” and pointed to the Soviets and their eight-year dance in Afghanistan, but I think Vizzini knows it best.

Didn’t he die just a few moments later?

Exactly.

Knowing the truth doesn’t keep you from dying.
