“There are more important things in life than walking.”
– Joni Eareckson Tada, from her book The God I Love
That quote sticks.
If I were prone to writing positive prose (which I am not), I might try to tie in some concept that you can’t fly if you insist on walking. I’d probably throw in a three-point supporting statement and even some how-to instructions. That might even make lovely sense coming from me, if I were writing another post about aviation and flying.
Instead, I think of Joni, her life as a quadriplegic, all that she’s accomplished and done for other people, and wonder if we weren’t so set on flying and instead agreed to limit our movement, be completely still, and sometimes, crawl on our knees — maybe then something of value would actually be done.
Flying is better.
Everyone is beneath you.
It’s a longer fall, though.
