In discussing President Obama and his seemingly on-the-job training and how that was causing previous supporters to begin questioning their support, a blog post over at Hot Air used a phrase that caught my eye:
Now, The Economist has had a Road to Damascus moment just two months after their candidate took office
A Road to Damascus moment.
Immediately Caravaggio’s famous painting came to mind. What always struck me as I studied art history in college, in regards to that painting, was that the horse’s ass was featured prominently. We most certainly talked about the unusual perspective, depiction and, of course, lighting, but mainly the phrase “horse’s ass” kept running through my head.
I suppose a person who has to have a Road to Damascus moment in order to make a necessary correction is probably just that.
