Getting mail from my sister Jacqui always makes me laugh. Mainly, she always picks hilarious cards. But, she does something else that is unique.
Under the stamp, she writes “save me.”
I know why this is. She uses cool stamps, and not just some flag or general stamp off of a roll. She uses the Disney stamps or the special occasion stamps…always a nice stamp. And, since I collect stamps (as does she, I think) she habitually writes that.
She need not worry; I always save stamps, even the “boring” ones. However, when I see the “save me” in the corner of the envelope, I always wonder:
- If there’s a little man inside the envelope needing assistance in getting out.
- If she’s trying to be sneaky and evangelize me somehow.
- If she’s in dire straights and that I should begine some kind of emergency procedures in order to save her.
I put the stamp (this time, a Star Wars stamp) in my drawer. With this stamp, the message of “save me” seems particularly befitting of the image.
After all, I may be the stamp’s only hope!
