Julie R. Neidlinger (b. 1974)
Julie R. Neidlinger's creative career began as a child, with a never-ending love for drawing and writing and making things. No art classes were offered at her elementary or high school in Starkweather, North Dakota, though she had the opportunity to take part in summer art classes and the occasional artist-in-residence that visited the school.
One such artist-in-residence that had an impact on her, and encourage her as a young student, was Bicky Bender. During her junior year in high school, Julie decided to attend Minnesota State University - Moorhead to pursue a degree in art.
First, though, there was a detour. Her freshman year of college was spent in the heart of Minneapolis at North Central University. The following four years found her immersed in the art and art history departments at Minnesota State University - Moorhead.
Following graduation, she moved back to the family farm and still pursued her art and writing, but supplemented her career with a wide variety of jobs ranging from photographer to journalist to art teacher. She formed her creative company Lone Prairie Art Works in the late 1990's, gradually adding name and branding to it as it grew.
She continues to specialize in the creative fields, which include writing, drawing, and music, all from the home-base of a North Dakota farm.

If you're looking for a shorter bio... you can thank my friend Corrine, a published author, who wrote this bio because I found it difficult to write about myself. She's been very generous in describing me.
Julie R. Neidlinger is both a writer and a visual artist. She writes, she paints, and she photographs -- but no matter what medium she chooses, she excels in finding and describing the universal themes that connect North Dakota to the larger, outside world. She has written for a small newspaper, but she is probably best known as the voice of Lone Prairie, a hugely popular website and blog that ranked as one of the top 400 blogs in the "TruthLaidBear" ecosystem at one time. She lives on a farm near Hampden, N.D., and she has a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Moorhead State University.
